My name is Jon Berry, and I'm the person behind Insight Trails™.
For more than 25 years, I've been writing and speaking about people and their
hopes and dreams, first as a newspaper reporter, then as a magazine editor, and for the past decade, in market research. For most of that time, I have been editorial director of the consumer and public opinion trends research service Roper Reports.
I am co-author of The Influentials (Free Press, 2003), a study of opinion leadership in America that's been praised as "groundbreaking" (Seth Godin), a book that "deserves a place on th shelf of anyone in business or politics" (The Washington Post), "a main line to the one conversation that matters" (Fast Company), and "must reading not only for marketers but everyone interested in how our society and culture function" (Daniel Yankelovich).
My work with Roper was also featured in the book Applebee's America (Simon & Schuster, 2006) by Matthew Dowd and Douglas Sosnik, former chief strategists,
respectively, for the Bush and Clinton administrations, and Associated Press political
writer Ron Fournier.
For a number of years, I've been interested in the intersection of people's values-beliefs-spirituality and their work. Partly it's for professional reasons - I think this is an important subject that's not being written about enough. Partly, though, it's personal -- a desire to explore ideas that I've been thinking and talking about in my religious/spiritual homes, weekend workshops, conversations with friends, and other settings.
With Insight Trails™, I hope to build a resource for people seeking more from their work. The heart of the site will be regular Q&A interviews with people doing interesting, spiritual work, in a variety of fields. In between will be conversations with experts and reports on conferences, websites, and books offering new perspectives.
If you would like to talk with me about partnering, or about my speaking to your organization on my Insight Trails™ work, please contact me at the email address on this site.
